Big Bob Young: Music
Mr. Moon
(Big Bob Young)
INSPIRATION; this song, or at least the structure of it, was inspired by my time as guitar player for the jazz ensamble at the University of Central Arkansas in Conway. I really wasn't good enough to be in the band but no one else tried out and they were doing a couple of blues tunes that really needed some gutar riffs. I really enjoyed the chord structure of a lot of those songs and Mr Moon is a throw back to something that might have been written in the thirties.
I wanted the lyric to convey that same idea.
LYRICS:
Mr. Moon
Oh Mr. Moon don’t you feel so blue
You’re not the only lonely one I’m lonely too
Don’t you recall that night that you shown so bright
Just she and I and you Mr. Moon
Oh Mr. Moon don’t you feel so blue
You’re not the only lonely one I’m lonely too
Last night while I lie sleeping
All the stars fell from the sky
Mountains tumbled to the ground
And rivers all ran dry
Hell finally froze over and there’s no fish in the sea
Or else she’d still be here with me
That’s what she said
Oh Mr. Moon don’t you feel so blue
You’re not the only lonely one I’m lonely too
Last night while I lie sleeping
All the stars fell from the sky
Mountains tumbled to the ground
And rivers all ran dry
Hell finally froze over and there’s no fish in the sea
Or else she’d still be here with me
That’s what she said
Oh Mr. Moon don’t you feel so blue
You’re not the only lonely one I’m lonely too
Oh Mr. Moon don’t you feel so blue
You’re not the only lonely one I’m lonely too
You’re not the only lonely one I’m lonely too.
